FREE Colorwork Grids - Aedyr and Steel Garrote from Avowed - For Crochet or Other Crafts
Alright, pals. I want to get back to actually playing Avowed, so I only have two patterns this week. One would make a nice colonist empire blanket and the other is for those religious zealots out there!
Before I show them to you though, I need to write more words here for the search engine robots (I'm so sorry that pattern blogs are also like recipe blogs but it's how things are and we just have to deal with it, ok?), so let's talk about Pillars of Eternity. I, for some reason, had no idea Avowed was a PoE sequel (maybe I should type that out so it isn't confused with Path of Exile?). I was pretty deep in the game and I kept thinking things sounded vaguely familiar, but I had no idea why. I was like, "Oh, this is based on something IRL, isn't it?" or so I kept thinking, and merely strolling around the Living Lands having a good time as a super-weird court auger.
The thing is...I PLAYED Pillars of Eternity. I have a fair number of hours in it. But apparently my brain is so full of holes now and I have played so many games that I simply did not put anything together at all.
And now listen here, I don't read jack shit about games I'm excited for. Jack shit. I want to experience them for myself my first playthrough and form my own opinions with zero outside influence. I do not give a rat's ass what some internet neckbeard thinks about pronouns, etc. etc. I do not compare games to other games unless they are in the same series or I have expectations from a studio (looking at you BioWare and that steaming pile of dogshit that was Veilguard). I enjoyed Outer Worlds, and I completely forgot Obsidian made Pillars. Because my brain.
The moral of this story is, I am enjoying Avowed a lot. There are some shortcomings, but it is nothing I won't forgive because, overall, it is a good, fun story and it is well-executed not a ham-fisted game for children that was laden with false promises. It is very role-play-y, which I greatly appreciate. I'm going to replay Pillars because CRPGs are my jam and I didn't finish it. I liked it enough to buy the sequel, which I don't appear to have played at all. I have no idea what happened. Something interrupted me and then I forgot. Don't do drugs, kids.
I think I wrote enough words this week for the internet search robots, so here are your charts. I did Aedyr and the Steel Garrote (which is a modified Woedica symbol, isn't it?). Enjoy, feel free to save, modify, use for whatever crafts you want, etc. These will work for colorwork crochet and c2c, but I believe in free will so do what you want. I just ask that you link back here and I am always grateful for donations to my Ko-Fi page.
Anyway, here's the Aedyran Empire banner. Check out that nice scepter. Make the brown parts black. They're brown so the grid is visible.
And now here's the Steel Garrote. Make it whatever colors you want. I went with the colors on the tabard of the gear you can pick up. I had to draw it myself because I couldn't get a screenshot of it flat/unmoving on anything. I like it. It would look better with some sort of border. Do what you want.I have no idea at all what I'll have for you next week (hopefully not another rambling pseudo game review), but be sure to check back, or follow me on Ko-Fi. Also check out my Etsy shop and you can find me on Twitch being an unholy turd.
