FREE Globox Crochet Pattern
This is a pretty easy pattern and it's based on Globox's design from Rayman 3 on the ye olde PS2. If he's a little wonky, it's ok because Globox is a little wonky! I think this is a decent beginner crochet pattern, but you should be familiar with the abbreviations or willing to use Google - this pattern will not teach you to crochet, but you can use it to practice!
If you want to snag an ad-free PDF copy you can get one here. It's a pay-what-you-want pattern, so if you want to throw in a little extra $$$, it is always appreciated. The PDF version also has some extra images to help with construction and assembly that aren't included below (that is me trying to upsell). Oh, and the $$ allow me to keep making cool things without being homeless, which is neat, right? Right??? RIGHT?!
Otherwise, may your ads be targeted properly and you can just stay where you are.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
· Worsted weight yarn in blue, white, light yellow, and a small amount of black
· Yarn needle
· Stuffing material
· Pins (optional, to position parts for attaching) – I like to use bobby pins
ABBREVIATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED
· Ch: chain
· Sc: single crochet
· Inc: increase
· Dec: decrease
· BLO: back loop only
· Rnd/rnds: round/rounds
This is a pretty easy pattern and should be easy to scale up (or down). This is a goof project for adding weighted stuffing to the bottom or experimenting with wiring the arms – I did not do either of these things so I did not include instructions to do so, but there are plenty of resources online.
You need to be familiar with how to change colors in the round and carry the unused color behind the work, unless you want to break off and rejoin your yarn instead. I also recommend doing invisible decreases (decrease in the front loops only) when decreasing in the rnd, but if you don’t want to that’s fine. Running stitch/whip stitch are used for joining.
Gauge: 4 sc/inch and 4 sc rows/inch but gauge is not all that important for plushies
Finished Globox measures about 9” tall. You can change your yarn weight/hook size to change the size of Globox.
PATTERN
Total sts in rnd/row are indicated in parentheses().
Starting at head, with blue.
Rnd 1: ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook (6);
Rnd 2: inc around (12);
Rnd 3: * sc, inc, repeat from * around (18);
Rnd 4: * sc 2, inc, repeat from * around (24);
Rnds 5-6 (2 rnds): sc around (24);
Rnd 7: * sc 3, inc, repeat from * around (30);
Rnd 8: * sc 4, inc, repeat from * around (36);
Rnd 9: * sc 5, inc, repeat from * around (42);
Rnd 10: sc 3, (inc, sc 6) x5, inc, sc 3 (48);
Rnd 11: working BLO, sc 24, switch to white and sc 24 (48);
Don’t break off the blue or you’ll have to keep rejoining it – carry it behind the white.
Rnd 12: stop working BLO, switch back to blue and carry the white, (sc 6, dec) x3, switch to white and carry the blue, (sc 6, dec) x3, break off white (42);
Rnd 14: * sc 5, dec, repeat from * around (36);
Rnd 15: * sc 4, dec, repeat from * around (30);
Rnd 16: sc around (30);
Rnd 17: * sc 4, dec, repeat from * around (25);
Rnd 18: sc around (25);
Rnd 19: * sc 4, inc, repeat from * around (30);
You should be seeing the neck take shape and you can begin stuffing the head now. Be mindful of how you stuff and do a bit of soft sculpting to get the head shaped right. It should be sort of flat with a point in the middle where the eyes will be. Continue stuffing as you go.
Rnd 21: sc around (35);
Rnd 22: * sc 6, inc, repeat from * around (40);
Rnds 23-25 (3 rnds): sc around (40);
Rnd 26: * sc 7, inc, repeat from * around (45);
Rnds 27-33 (7 rnds): sc around (45);
Rnd 34: * sc 7, dec, repeat from * around (40);
Rnd 35: sc around (40);
Rnd 36: * sc 6, dec, repeat from * around (35);
Rnd 37: sc around (35);
Rnd 38: * sc 3, dec, repeat from * around (28);
Rnd 39: sc around (28);
Rnd 40: * sc 2, dec, repeat from * around (21);
Rnd 41: * sc, dec, repeat from * around (14);
Rnd 42: dec around (7), break off, cinch closed.
Rnd 1: ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook (6);
Rnd 2: inc around (12);
Rnd 3: * sc, inc, repeat from * around (18);
Rnd 4: * sc 2, inc, repeat from * around (24);
Rnd 5: * sc 3, inc, repeat from * around (30);
Rnd 6: * sc 4, inc, repeat from * around (36);
Rnd 7: * sc 5, inc, repeat from * around (42);
Rnd 8: sc 3, (inc, sc 6) x5, inc, sc 3 (48);
Sl in the 1st st, break off with a long tail to sew into place.
Position the belly on the front as shown. Use a running stitch to secure into place.
Make 2.
Starting at the hand, with yellow.
Rnd 1: ch 2, sc 7 in 2nd ch from hook (7);
Rnd 2: inc around (14);
Rnds 3-8 (6 rnds): sc around (14);
Rnd 9: dec around (7), switch to blue and break off yellow;
The hand is not stuffed, just smoosh it flat.
Rnds 10-15 (6 rnds): sc around (7);
Rnd 16: sc 6, inc (8);
Rnds 17-19 (3 rnds): sc around (8);
Rnd 20: sc 7, inc (9);
Rnds 21-25 (5 rnds): sc around (9); break off with a long tail to attach after rnd 25.
Attach the arms on either side of the body just below the neck. You can definitely wire these arms if you want!
Each foot is 3 parts, a bottom and a top, which you’ll crochet together and then a middle toe, which you’ll sew on.
BOTTOM
Make 2.
With blue, starting at the toes.
Ch 9;
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (8), ch 1, turn;
Row 2: sc across (8), ch 1, turn;
Row 3: dec, sc 4, dec (6), ch 1, turn;
Rows 4-5 (2 rows): sc across (6), ch 1, turn;
Row 6: dec, sc 2, dec (4), ch 1, turn;
Rows 7-8 (2 rows): sc across (4), ch 1, turn;
Row 9: dec 2x (2), break off.
TOP
With yellow, starting at the toes.
Ch 9;
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (8), ch 1, turn;
Row 2: sc across (8), ch 1, turn;
Row 3: dec, sc 4, dec (6), ch 1, turn;

Rows 7-8 (2 rows): sc across (4), ch 1, turn;
Row 9: dec 2x (2), ch 1, DO NOT break off;
Line up the top piece with a bottom and then sc down the side, working through both pieces (approx. 7 sc), ch 2 at the corner and sc 8 across the bottom, ch 2 at the corner, sc up the other side (approx. 7 sc), ch 1 in the corner, sc 2, sl in the 1st sc, break off with a tail to attach to the body.
MIDDLE TOE
Make 2.
With blue
Ch 5, break off with a long tail then sew down to the yellow section on the foot with a running stitch. See image.
Make 2.
With white.
Rnd 1: ch 2, work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook (5);
Rnd 2: inc around (10);
Rnd 3: sc around (10);
Rnd 4: dec around (5), break off with a long tail to sew to head. You shouldn’t need to stuff or close the hole unless you used a larger hook, changed the size of your Globox, etc.
Stitch on a pupil with a small length of black and a yarn needle then attach the eyes side by side on the top of the head. See image.
The end! Happy crafting!
