WIP Wednesday - Double-Knit Bigfeet and More!

Image
UPDATE 2/5/23: I bet people would be into the reversible bigfoot hats if I made more of them. Double-knitting though. I love it and also hate it. I might whip up one or two...maaaaaybe. Check the shop ! I'm working on a lot of oddball stuff and I've finished up a lot of oddball stuff the last few days. So here goes...this isn't quite a normal WIP Wednesday post because I just finished up a bunch of stuff then started on a bunch of new stuff. Yeah. Anyway. My brains. Reversible Bigfeet I finished up a child-size as well as a normal adult size (yes, I'm going to update the pattern, I promise!). Here's a look at the adult-size when it was still a WIP. I'm currently working on another one that is a blue and purple ombre instead of pink, but I've done so little it's not worth me taking a picture. My ombre yarn is Bernat Handicrafter Cotton , which I would use for everything I do ever if it were economically feasible. lolol Reversible Metallic Silver ...

WIP Wednesday - Double-Knit Bigfeets and A Yarn Review

UPDATE 2/4/23: The free entire bigfoot hat knitting pattern is here , including suggestions for double-knitting it.   I'll be doing a shop update with bigfoot hats on March 1st! It may or may not include double-knit ones.    I've been meaning to get around to double-knitting a bigfoot hat. I finally - actually - did manage to get started. I had a bunch of leftover Paton's Metallic , which I bought for another project a while back and I decided to put it to use (I'll share said project one day when I think about it and decide to pull it out).  Paton's Metallic: I Hate You Let me ramble a bit about this yarn. Yeah, it looks neat, but I absolutely hate working with it. It is definitely not my favorite. I think it would be fine for crochet, but I'm continually losing my mind knitting with it. There's also a chance I'm just incompetent, but that aside... (I might totally crochet some stuff with crocodile stitch with what I end up having leftov...

LIMITED TIME Bigfeet Hats Available Right Now!

UPDATE 2/4/23: There are a couple bigfoot hats in my Etsy shop right now at the time I'm writing this and I am also planning to do a shop update with more bigfoot hats on March 1st! Ever since I posted the free bigfoot hat pattern I've gotten non-stop custom requests for all sorts of bigfoot hats! This was super surprising and I took a moment to whip up four different versions and they are all ready-to-ship! They're also on sale because I'm apparently in the holiday spirit like some sort of jolly Dickens character. Head to the shop and order one! I don't have plans to make more of these once they're gone (unless it's a custom order), so snag one while you can. I'm not taking any more custom orders until after Christmas because I gots to make some presents for my lame-o family. ;-)

UPDATED Bigfoot Hat - Free Knitting Pattern

UPDATE 2/3/23: I spruced up this pattern for clarity as well as the changes I've made for a newer, superior version of the hat, and also did some work on the suggestions for variations section. And now, finally, if you'd like a printable PDF version without ads, you can get it HERE for a few dollars. The free version will of course still be available forever.   $1+ PDF Version You can see some examples of the new version of the hat to the right, where I don't start the decreases of the crown until after completing the honeycomb pattern, rather than working the decreases in with the pattern. It makes the finished hat a bit lengthier since slouchier hats are back in style again, I suppose. I never quite know what's in style at any given time.  The older images of the hat are down at the bottom of the page if you'd also like to see them if you're new here. I'm fairly certain the original hat that Lorelai wears on Gilmore Girls is using DK yarn. (The original ...
