Let's Talk About Gearbox

Image
I mean Gearbox Software, the development company behind the Borderlands video games, which have been some of my favorites for their unhinged tomfoolery and general ridiculousness, but then also profoundly deep moments for stark contrast, of course.  You may be familiar with my crochet Claptrap pattern. See it. It's extremely detailed. Not for the faint of heart. It is so much assembly. So many parts. Takes so long. The pattern has been around for a while (since 2012, I think). I've made a lot of improvements over the years and recently added videos to help with the buckwild assembly. It was even featured on some official Borderlands social media back in the day. Back in the day when Gearbox was cool with fans making stuff. What do you mean, Michelle? You might be wondering. Well, well, well. I got a nice lil cease and desist notice from Gearbox the other day and the pattern was removed from Etsy. Shit happens. And they have the "legal" right to do this. It is, in fac...

I asked ChatGPT to make a crochet pattern for the Miami Mall Shadow Alien...

Image
This pattern is not by me, it is by my dear friend ChatGPT . It is so terrible that I wouldn't even imagine taking credit for it. But it's funny, and it's definitely cursed. I haven't asked ChatGPT to make a cursed pattern for me in a while, but I did Slenderman a while back and also Macho Man . Absolute disasters but also hilarious. I really need to do this periodically for lols. I'm sure by now we've all heard about the Miami mall alien conspiracy (this is totally a conspiracy I can get behind), so I'm not going to go into it. You can rabbit hole yourself if you want, access the Google. What I am going to do is drop this pattern here for you to laugh at. I don't know why there are safety eyes included in the materials and then instructions to make eyes. I guess the safety eyes are just to keep you company while you work. There's also some really bizarre formatting for work even rounds, which...I don't know. I simply do not know. I copied it he...

And Then I Asked ChatGPT To Make a Macho Man Randy Savage Crochet Pattern...

Image
Yesterday I posted about ChatGPT's valiant attempt to write a crochet pattern for a plushie Slenderman . The result was not very slender and also not really any sort of man. More of a weird, moderately unnerving Pokemon. You can see "Slenderman" right there in the image next to "Macho Man." I don't even really know what to say about "Macho Man." He's mostly naked, bald, and I don't think ChatGPT knows what a bandana is. I also don't know what's up with the arm and leg bands. Are those the elbows and knees? I aim to find out while also trying to help this AI become self-aware because I crave the end of humanity. That aside. If you would like to make yourself an AI-generated "Macho Man," here is the pattern as given to me. I'll mess around with this some more next week. Maybe do a little once a week AI pattern monstrosity post. Materials:      Tan yarn      Black yarn      Red yarn      3.5 mm crochet ...

I Asked ChatGPT To Make a Slenderman Crochet Pattern

Image
The results were...something. Unsettling? Charming? Definitely not Slenderman, but not really anything else either? Some sort of Pokemon? Here's the pattern, as it was given to me by my AI friend ChatGPT, if you'd also like to make this "Slenderman."
