Happy Thanksgiving + Black Friday + Some Updates

Image
UPDATE 2/4/23: This is just me acknowledging that I have looked at this post during this Great Blog Re-Work of 2023. Other pertinent links now include my Ravelry store and my Ko-Fi page . If you want current updates about new things in my shop and new patterns and whatever then follow me on Facebook ! Happy Black Friday! I hope everyone's having fun and had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I spent it watching Cheers and feeding turkey to the cats. Today I'm putting on my knitting pants and getting back to "work." I've been real busy with custom requests lately! I've gotten so many people in need of bigfoot hats that I'm going to take a moment to make a handful of different ones for the shop . They'll be on sale for the holidays too! I totally associate yetis with Christmas and yetis are northern bigfeet, right? Right. So keep your eyes peeled for those. There will be some Lorelai-style ones (gray and white) as well as other colors too. I'll a...

Bigfeet, Double Knitting and the Quest for the Dark Tower

UPDATE 2/4/23: None of these hats are available anymore because this was many years ago. I am thinking about making some double-knit bigfoot hats for this fall though. Get the FREE bigfoot hat knitting pattern here .  Absolutely go check out my current inventory on Etsy ! You can also find my commission status there! If you're interested in patterns, then go to my Ko-Fi page ! There are a lot of patterns there that I don't have on Etsy or even on Ravelry and I even offer monthly subscriptions for goodies!   1. Bigfeet I promised the internet a pattern for the bigfoot hat . I've made two as custom orders (one without a pom pom and one with a pom pom) using worsted weight yarn, but the original hat is most certainly double knitted using DK. I'll post the pattern for the one-sided knit version this Friday for...Free Pattern Friday! I need to take a stab at making the double knitted version. Mentioning this transitions nicely into my next topic of discussion. 2. Dou...

Dark Tower Beam Guardian Scarf - Lion and Eagle

UPDATE 2/2/23: My Dark Tower stuff was so popular! I also priced it very very low. I'm sort of excited to get the charts together for the Tower crafters out there! I absolutely want people to make their own Beam Guardian scarves! I also love that staghorn cable! I got my cable needle out and I'm going to do SOMETHING with some staghorn soon! I swear it! Anyway, I don't have any Tower goodies in stock right now, but check out my Etsy to see when commissions are open and take a look at my other inventory! And swing by my Ko-Fi page too! Last but not least! If you want the latest updates (like when the Beam Guardian patterns are available) then you should follow me on Facebook !  Well, this scarf sold within a few hours of me listing it so here are some pictures. It's in the mail today for the lucky person that managed to buy it before anyone else. :) Down at the bottom is also a picture of the next Turtle and Bear scarf. I'm using Lion Brand Heartland 'Grand ...

Dark Tower Beam Guardian Scarf - Turtle and Bear

UPDATE 2/1/23: Why did I not include my Etsy link anywhere in this post? I'm constantly confused by a lot of my old blog posts. The point of this blog was to drive traffic to my page to make money? And yet there are so many posts that do not contain the links to get to the places to give me the money. lololol I WILL ABSOLUTELY be FINALLY making the Beam Guardian animal patterns available. If you want the latest updates, you need to follow me on Facebook .  I'm really happy with how the second Beam Guardian scarf turned out. It's longer than I meant for it to be (coming in at 66" without the fringe). I kept psyching myself out thinking it was too short. There's nothing worse than a stumpy scarf, amirite??  I meant for it to be between 55" and 60" then overshot a good bit. With the 5" fringe on either end it's a pretty lengthy piece. It's 7" wide and making it less wide would make the Guardians a pain in the ass, so I'm settled on...
