WIP Wednesday - Beam Scarf and Some Hats

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: I love staghorn cabling. That first Beam Guardian scarf was like 60 hours of work. My charts weren't that great either, but it was still a lot. I was also working on so many things at one time! Which is, like, the same as today. Follow me on Facebook for the latest updates!  Beam Guardian Scarf It now measures about 35" long and I'm halfway done with the Tower in the middle. I changed my mind about a couple things since my last major post about it. After I finished the cabling up the turtle side I went straight into work on the Tower. For the Tower I went with a more abstract swirling flower shape. After I finish that I will be starting down at the bear end of the beam and I'll do Shardik, following by a bunch of cabling and attach the pieces. The back is still going to be a solid piece and I'm going to slip stitch the two sides together and finish with tassels. Whew! New Hats I've been working on two hats. One is an Argyle Slytherin ha...

Borderlands Vaulthunter Logo - Free Colorwork Chart

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: This post mentions another version of this chart, which...where is it? I don't know. I wish I knew. What in the world did I name the file? I cannot find it. It is gone. lol How do I lose things on my computer like this??? Good golly. Visit my Etsy shop ! Look for patterns on my Ravelry ! Subscribe to my Ko-Fi ! I haven't made anything with this chart in ages. I never finished playing Borderlands 3 and I should probably do that. I did play Tiny Tina's Wonderlands . I'm on the fence about reworking and testing this chart some more...we'll see. Happy 4th of July AND Free Pattern Friday! I guess this is more of a Free Colorwork Chart Friday, but doesn't sound as good, does it? This week I've got the Borderlands Vaulthunter logo for you. This is the chart I used for the orange pom pom hat as well as the crochet patch . I used a slightly larger chart for the square hat . The smaller chart is much more versatile. It's good for both colorwork ...

FINISHED - Hogwarts Moroccan Tile Afghan

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: I've mused a great deal about this blanket on some other posts. I did a lot of posts about it as I was working on it. I am a big fan of the nested V stitch AKA the Moroccan tile stitch. I'm not sure the origins of the name "Moroccan tile" and it makes me sort of cringe to call it that. I don't know why! I have no basis for this! NESTED V STITCHES.   I won't wax poetic here about JRK nor the Harry Potter series. I touched on it all in another post. It's neither here nor there.   Moogly has a great NESTED V STITCH tutorial here .    If you want Harry Potter stuff from me, absolutely, I will still make said stuff for you. All proceeds go to me, a gay, not to JKR. Speaking of which, my Etsy shop !    Whew! Finally finished this. I'd been working on it on and off for what feels like forever. I would work on it whenever I needed a break from knitting. I'm super happy with it. It's really cozy (the cats also loved it so I'm going...

WIP Wednesday - Hats, Beam Scarf and More!

Update 1/23/23: Long posts are good wtf was old me talking about? lol Blogs are for the search robots, not for actual people to read! I mean, you totally can read them. I try to still make them readable for human beings and such. I know a lot more about SEO now than I did back in the day. If you found your way here for llamas, check this out: Jerry Horne's Llama Mitts I reverse-engineered Jerry's mitts and also included the llama chart. I made some hats with it. It's free! Also, while you're here, you should take a look around my Etsy ! If you want free stuff then I have to sell stuff, such is life. You can also see if my commissions are open. For patterns, head to Ravelry ! I'm now offering a cool monthly subscription service on Ko-Fi too!  ~~~~ Beware: Long Post Because I Don't Feel Like Making Multiple Posts. I'm working on a lot of things right now, including some personal projects and I'm about to start a pretty big commission as well. New Hats ...

Hogwarts Moroccan Tile Afghan Update!

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: I honestly have no idea what happened to this blanket? Did I take it apart? Did I give it as a gift? Did I maybe actually sell it. I do love me some nested Vs, y'all. It do be like that.   JKR's behavior in recent years has been disheartening, but it does not take away from the impact of her silly book series. You can be a Harry Potter fan without a JKR fan. You can pirate the novels so that not a cent goes to her. Keep making Hogwarts house stuff, sell it, keep all of that money.    And let us all revel in the irony that her books have been a source of joy for so many people she apparently despises. The very themes of her novels somehow escape her.    That being said, I won't continue to wax poetic on the matter.  Just a quick update - I finished the Slytherin section and I got excited. Hufflepuff is up next, but it's Friday night so I'm going to drink some bourbon and play video games. I'm also thinking about doing a "Free Pattern Frida...

WIP Wednesday - Beam Guardian Scarf v3.0

Image
UPDATE 1/23/23: I have been ITCHING to do something with staghorn cabling again and an i-cord edge. I might just make a basic bitch scarf. Would anyone buy it? Would I wear it? I might. Scarves take so long and are no joke, but people don't want to pay more than like $60 for one. I did a double-knit scarf recently that took 100+ hours. My knitting skills have improved a great deal since I made this first scarf and this original post. I'd go about beam scarves a lot differently now. I also fully intend to share my Beam Guardian charts. I just have to round them up and make a nice post. Head over to my Etsy to check out my current inventory and commission status! Serious inquiries only about commissions. I don't low-ball myself anymore and I properly value my own time and work. This is a bummer for a lot of people, but, you know what, the Dark Tower fandom has always been solid, and if you found your way to this post because of those books then hell yeah! Long days and pl...

Mass Effect Colorwork Charts!

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: I should redo these and make them prettier, shouldn't I? I'll put it on the list. I do literally have a list, which I have started in Notepad!   I ended up putting that N7 patch on my own backpack. I really don't know why my crochet patches didn't do better?! DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE TO PUT PATCHES ON THEIR BAGS THESE DAYS?! Or...back then? When I made them...it was a while ago.   If for some reason you want one, please, let me know! I would gladly produce one (or more) for you. If you want to see what I currently have in stock, then check out my Etsy shop RIGHT NOW!  These charts would be awesome for duplicate stitch knitting, which I don't think I've ever used them for. Huh! What do you know...     ATTN: Mass Effect Yarncrafters Here's the deal with these charts: I've only used them for crochet, but they'll be fine for knitting. The Cerberus chart below is not the chart I used for the Cerberus patch . I also only included the small ...
