WIP Friday?!?! More SPOOKY SWIFTY COLLECTION.

Image
I might have some more free patterns from Pillars of Eternity next week, so keep an eye out if that's your thing. This week, I've just got another Spooky Swifty item, which isn't finished. I thought this one wouldn't take as long as the Conjuring one I made last week, but...well...I decided to do a cypress tree with Spanish moss (it turns out that I really like embroidering trees), and I decided to do the Spanish moss in the most incredibly tedious way possible AKA Palestrina stitch (which I don't think I was doing right for some lol). Anyway, I really like it and I'll be finishing it up today, so it will be available in the shop tomorrow hopefully. Until then, check out these WIP pictures!  This is shortly after I made the decision about the moss. Now here's some more and also tree trunk and you can see which lyrics we have happening on this one. I don't even really like this song, but well...again...here we are. Even more moss and about 6 hours or s...

It's WIP Wednesday Again!

Image
Today is also the first day of a new month, so there are new goodies over on Ko-Fi ! Glaceon, Blastoise, and Raticate charts! Follow that previous link where I ramble about it a little more.  I also did a small shop update on Etsy featuring some of the WIP bags I posted about last week! There will be another mid-month Ko-Fi update this month for members, and the next shop update will not be until March 1st. Also, commissions are closed until March so I can work on some TUTORIAL VIDEOS and do some housekeeping of this here blog.  Anywho, my daisy bag did not get finished in time for the shop update so it's still a work in progress! I've made all of the squares for one side, but I haven't joined them. I'm going to use a dark brown wooden handle for this bag, and I'm not totally sure how I want to join them nor am I sure about the border, so I'm going to finish making the squares first. You can get the daisy square pattern here . It's very easy! And free! I...

WIP Wednesday! Bags! Bags! Bags!

Image
Commissions will be closed at the end of this month, probably through all of February so I can concentrate on updating old patterns, and also old blog posts here. AND ALSO get started making pattern and tutorial videos! I'll be revamping my YouTube, which I will not link you to just yet. Patience, my dudes! While you wait, check out my patterns on Ravelry . I'll actually be MAKING the things from my patterns because that's the best way to test them, so they'll be available for purchase once they're done. If there's something from one of my patterns that you like a lot then keep an eye out! As far as the rest of this month goes, I'm trying to jam out a few new items for a small shop update on February 1st - they're all bags! So many bags! I'm trying to see what designs I vibe with. Take a look around my Etsy shop to see what's available currently! I'm NOT going to do any Valentine's Day items this year! I hope that doesn't disappoint ...

Ranger-General Sylvanas Crochet Cosplay

Image
UPDATE 2/12/23: I don't want to go into great detail about the decision to scrap Sylvanas. It was a recent one and it was not done lightly. To save you from a lot of angst, I'm just going to say that the more I looked at the word I'd done, the more I wished I'd used royal blue instead of navy.  The Recap: I started this idiotic/genius project over three years ago, but I worked on it very sporadically until about 9 months ago because I had no money because making things for people doesn't quite pay all the bills and also allow one to afford the shitloads of yarn and other things I needed for this personal project. I got a real job, so I had money, but then I had no time - the Great Adult Paradox, I suppose! I wanted to pull this off for DragonCon this year, but if you follow me on any social medias, you know that I worked on it nonstop and then even worked on it at the con and crashed and burned. I didn't have time for all of the detailing and I'm a huge ...

Easy Crochet Fingerless Bag Lady Mitts - FREE PATTERN

Image
UPDATE 2/11/23: I had to admit this but I scrapped this project, and I did it pretty recently. This pattern is still good though for some fingerless mitts or a base for any sort of crochet cosplay gauntlets. Visit Etsy to see my current ready-to-ship inventory as well as check my commission status. There are a lot of patterns out there for fingerless mitts. I wanted a pair of solid, sturdy ones for my Ranger-General Sylvanas gauntlets. If you keep up with my Facebook , you know that I've gone insane and I'm crocheting a Sylavanas cosplay based on her Ranger-General skin in Heroes of the Storm. NB: This is NOT a pattern for the completed gauntlets, this is just the mitts they're attached to. Finished mitts measure approximately 11" in length and 4" across at the widest part, so they're small adult or kid-sized. Because I am a waif of a human. For larger mitts you can either use a larger hook size or add length or girth in the form of more rows or stit...

WIP Wednesday - A Splatoon Bobble Hat Update

Image
UPDATE 2/6/23: I no longer stock Splatoon hats, PaPa hats, nor Noiz hats, but I will make them as custom orders! Check my custom order status on my Etsy ! You can also make your own bobble and sporty bobble Splatoon hats with this pattern ! My blog has been so neglected! I've been spending every waking hour making Phoenix Wright 'PaPa' hats  (also available without the button here ) and Noiz cosplay hats , which I think I mentioned in my last update...ages ago. I swear that I'll eventually get back into the habit of Free Pattern Fridays one day as well. I tried very hard to get some Splatoon Bobble Hats ready in time for Halloween, but a series of strange events occurred with fabric being out of stock, so on and so forth. I won't bore you with my excuses because I hate listening to excuses and I'm sure you do too. What can I do to make up for my failure to reach my own arbitrary deadline? A coupon code, of course! And I have actually made progress on...

WIP Wednesday - Splatoon Bobble Hats

Image
UPDATE 2/6/23: Splatoon hats were a wild ride. I don't stock them anymore, nor the Noiz hats, but of course, you can still get one as a custom order. To check my commission status just look at the announcement at the top of my Etsy shop ! You can also get the pattern for both regular bobble and sporty bobble hats here !  I've been horribly neglectful of my blog the last several weeks. I haven't had time for any Free Pattern Friday goodies and I'm only really working on one new project - Splatoon Bobble Hats! [Sidebar: I keep mispelling "bobble" as "booble" so, uh, oops? I usually catch it, but I'm unpredictable!] Hopefully, I'll have a few completed Bobble Hats in the shop next week and I'm going to add an expedited shipping upgrade option in case anyone needs one for Halloween. Completed hats will have tentacles and all of the brim accessories. I might also have tentacle-less hats as an option too because I haven't totally settl...

Last-Minute DragonConning - Destiny Hunter Cosplay WIP

Image
UPDATE 2/7/23: What a fun time! Having finished my two DragonCon cosplays with some weeks to spare apparently made me look very available to help someone mere days before we leave for Atlanta. There won't be a free knitting or crochet pattern this week, pals - because I have been spending every waking hour working on someone else's costume - a hunter from Destiny . Thankfully, she had fabricated most everything already and just brought it over. She also had a (horribly made) gun molded, which I'll rant about in a later post. My job has largely been painting, which is something I enjoy. I also sewed a cloak. I don't enjoy sewing, but I'm pleased enough with it. I've been watching Project Runway , which has instilled me with confidence? I did some draping shit, which looks alright. Today, because we have reached the eleventh hour, I've been doing assembly of some of the pieces and still painting. Painting. Painting. I may or may not have put more work int...

Finishing Up Nisha + Full Costume Test Session

Image
UPDATE 2/6/23: Corrected some formatting issues and putting this here so I know I checked this post! lolol After DragonCon I hope to get back in the grove of Free Pattern Friday for real - at least a colorwork chart each week if not a complete pattern. I wrapped up both of my cosplays this year way early, but I've mostly just been working on stocking the shop for the impending hat season(!). This means I'm not really making any new or interesting things at the moment. I'm taking it easy until after the con, you see. Following this year's adventure, I'll be doing a full write up for both Sweater Saturn as well as Nisha for my main website  for those of you interested. I personally enjoy reading about other peoples' processes for ideas, etc. etc. My write-ups are pretty fun because I screw up a lot and they often contain many hilarious DO NOT DO THIS LIKE I DID tips. lololol Until then, here's a quick summary of the final parts of my Nisha costume and...
